Attorneys Brett Leitner and Justin Varughese met with numerous prominent New York State Senators and Assembly Members to advocate for the rights of injury victims, specifically for the protection of construction workers in the state who may be severely injured on the job due to a lack of adequate safety equipment. Attorneys Leitner and Varughese in particular advocated for the continuation of protections for New York construction workers under the Labor Law that require owners and contractors to provide appropriate harnesses, belts, and other safety equipment in the workplace. They also advocated for the passing of the “Sunshine Law” that would require transparency on the part of insurance companies to open up their books to the legislature so as to justify the insurance companies’ opposition to these worker protection laws.
