Reporting New York nursing home abuse, neglect and mistreatment

The New York State Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is a state agency in New York that is empowered to investigate and prosecute abuse, neglect and mistreatment of residents in nursing homes. Tens of thousands of elderly and medically-dependent residents in New York depending on nursing homes to provide proper and adequate medical and nursing care. However, these residents are at times subject to mistreatment, abuse and/or neglect, often caused by a failure of the nursing staff to follow treatment plans and inadequate or "short" staffing.

Such mistreatment, abuse and neglect may result in injuries including bed sores/pressure ulcers, falls, hip fractures, femur fractures, brain bleeds/injuries, amongst others.
