This alleged cover-up follows the recent release of a scathing report by New York State Attorney General Letitia James bringing to light the failure of New York nursing homes to protect their residents, which led to the deaths of tens of thousands elderly New York nursing home residents.
Video footage was recently leaked showing the top aide for the governor apologizing to Democratic lawmakers, stating that the administration "froze" when initially asked by state legislators back in August about the number of nursing home deaths from Covid, over political concerns that the information was “going to be used against us”.
